Technical Tour 1 |
XIAOHONGMEN MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT |
PLANT, BEIJING |
Date: Saturday, 21/10/2017 |
Max Participants: 80 (shuttle bus) |
Time: 8:00 am-12:00 pm |
Xiaohongmen Wastewater Treatment Plant (XHM WWTP), located in the southeast of Beijing city, is one of the biggest WWTPs in central Beijing. The plant serves two million residents, and the total service area is 223.5 square kilometers which covers most area of the western suburbs, the southwestern suburbs and the southern suburbs. The plant has a proposed daily treatment capacity of 0.6 million tons. A2/O process is employed to remove phosphorus and nitrogen in municipal wastewater. In order to achieve the objective of harmless treatment, stabilization, recycle and reduction of sludge, advanced anaerobic digestion technology was chosen to treat sludge. Compared with traditional anaerobic digestion, advanced anaerobic digestion technology adopts thermal hydrolysis to pretreat sludge, which is one of the leading technologies of sludge disposal and the development trend of industry technology and application. Then the sludge is sent to mesophilic anaerobic digestion and plate frame system. After dewatering, the digestate is treated with anaerobic ammonia oxidative (anammox) process to remove nitrogen. |

Technical Tour 2 |
DEQINGYUAN ECOLOGICAL FARM, BEIJING |
Date: Saturday, 21/10/2017 |
Max Participants: 80 (shuttle bus) |
Time: 8:00 am-2:00 pm |
Deqingyuan (DQY) Ecological Farm, located in Beijing Songshan National Nature Reserve, ranks as the largest single-scale laying hen farm in Asia. It has 3 million hens and produces around 0.5 billion eggs every year. DQY won the highest award within the world's egg industry-the Crystal Egg Award twice in 2008 and 2013, for its outstanding achievement in egg industry. DQY adopts anaerobic digestion (AD) as the core technology for sustainable management of livestock wastes. On one hand, biogas produced from the AD plant is used for heat and power generation and approximately 14 million kWh is annually sent to North China Power Grid, corresponding to CO2 emission reduction of 84,000 tons. On the other hand, the digestate, rich in macro-/micronutrients (N, P, K, Fe, Mg, etc.) and humic acid, is successfully employed in surrounding farmlands, as a replacement for chemical fertilizer. The AD plant was also recognized as the global large-scale biogas demonstration project by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Global Environment Facility (GEF). Deqingyuan (DQY) Ecological Farm successfully combines eco-breeding, food processing, clean energy, organic fertilizer, contract farming and eco-planting together, serving as a good demonstration for circular economy and low-carbon economy. |
